Revealed in Mecca, Surah Al-Ikhlas consists of four verses and summarizes the core of Islamic belief, Tawhid (the Oneness of Allah), in the most concise and clear manner.
Arabic Transliteration
Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim.
1. Qul Huwallahu Ahad.
2. Allahus-Samad.
3. Lam yalid wa lam yulad.
4. Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad.
English Translation
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
1. Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,
2. Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
3. He neither begets nor is born,
4. Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
Virtues of Surah Al-Ikhlas
- Equivalent to One-Third of the Quran: "By Him in whose hand my soul is, it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran." (Bukhari)
- Glad Tidings of Paradise: When a companion said, "I love this Surah," the Prophet (PBUH) said, "Your love for it will admit you into Paradise." (Tirmidhi)
